1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ToolCookie.com (the “Site”) and its browser-based tools. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Disclaimer. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Nature and Scope of the Tools

ToolCookie provides practical tools for text, images, development, security-related tasks and browser-based recreation. The current collection is listed on the Tools page. Tools are provided for general informational, educational and productivity purposes and may change over time.

Most tool operations are performed locally in your browser. This does not mean that every page is offline or makes no network connections. The Site may load hosting, theme, plugin, font, library, worker or language resources. Certain tools identify their own external dependencies, such as OCR components and QR-decoding resources.

3. Eligibility and User Responsibility

You are responsible for deciding whether a tool is suitable for your intended use and whether you are legally permitted to process the text, files, images, URLs, email headers or other material you provide. You are also responsible for reviewing outputs before relying on, publishing, sharing or implementing them.

Keep appropriate backups. Do not replace or delete an original file solely because a converted, cleaned, encrypted or downloaded copy appears to work.

4. Acceptable Use

You may use the Site for lawful personal or professional purposes. You must not:

  • Use the Site to violate applicable law, intellectual-property rights, privacy rights or contractual obligations.
  • Process content or data you do not have permission to use.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, bypass or gain unauthorized access to the Site, its hosting or another person’s systems.
  • Introduce malicious code, automate abusive traffic or interfere with other users.
  • Use security-related tools to facilitate unauthorized access, fraud, harassment, surveillance or other harmful activity.

5. Tool Inputs, Local Processing and Storage

Where a tool page states that input is processed locally, its main tool logic is designed to process that input in the browser rather than upload it to ToolCookie for calculation. Ordinary website requests, browser extensions, third-party resources and user-initiated actions remain separate from the tool’s calculation.

Some features use browser memory or local storage. For example, Stress Buster stores game profiles, settings, achievements and progress locally. Session reports in the URL & Link Structure Checker remain only while the page session lasts. Clearing browser data, changing browsers or devices, using private browsing or resetting a tool may remove locally stored information.

The Contact page does not directly submit its form to a ToolCookie database. It prepares a draft for the user’s email application. If the user sends that draft, the message is transmitted through the user’s and recipient’s email providers.

6. Tool Accuracy and Functional Limitations

Tool outputs can be incomplete, inaccurate, incompatible or unsuitable for a particular use. Results depend on user input, selected settings, browser capabilities, device resources and third-party components. No result should be treated as a guarantee.

  • OCR output is currently configured for English and varies with image quality, layout and typography.
  • Approximate CMYK values are not professional print-production color profiles.
  • Color-contrast indicators assist review but do not certify complete accessibility compliance.
  • Meta tags and previews do not guarantee indexing, rankings, clicks or how another platform displays a page.
  • Regex, HTML, Markdown and other generated technical output must be tested in the intended environment.
  • Image conversion or re-encoding can affect quality, transparency, animation and metadata.

7. Encryption and Password Tools

The Client-Side File Encryptor uses AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption and password-based key derivation for its compatible file format. The Password Generator uses the browser Web Crypto API for random selection. These technical choices do not guarantee that a device, account, password or file will remain secure.

  • You are responsible for choosing and protecting passwords and for safeguarding encrypted files.
  • ToolCookie cannot retrieve forgotten encryption passwords or decrypt files without the correct password.
  • Only files and formats the tool identifies as compatible should be expected to work.
  • Password strength and entropy figures are estimates, not predictions of cracking time or account security.
  • Device compromise, malicious extensions, weak passwords, misuse or loss of files can defeat expected protections.

8. Email, URL and Link-Analysis Tools

The Email Header Analyzer parses supplied header text and provides structural or authentication indicators. It does not perform live DNS, blacklist, reputation or malware checks and cannot prove sender identity or detect every phishing attempt.

The URL & Link Structure Checker reviews observable URL-string features. It does not provide a safety verdict and does not perform live reputation, DNS, registration-age, certificate, redirect-chain, page-content or malware checks. The Bulk Link Checker performs local extraction and structural review; it does not verify that destinations are live, reachable or safe.

These tools do not replace antivirus software, browser protections, email-provider controls, organizational security policies or professional security analysis.

9. Image Metadata Cleaner

The current Image Metadata Cleaner supports JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP images and creates re-encoded copies. It does not promise support for documents, PDFs, audio, video, HEIC or RAW files, and it does not provide a forensic guarantee that every possible hidden payload or metadata-like element has been removed. Inspect the downloaded copy before sharing it.

10. Intellectual Property and User Material

The Site’s branding, original page content, designs and code are owned by ToolCookie or used under applicable licences. Except where permitted by law or an applicable licence, you may not reproduce, redistribute or commercially exploit the Site itself without permission.

You retain whatever rights you lawfully hold in material you provide. ToolCookie does not claim ownership merely because material is processed in a tool. Your ability to use an output depends on the rights in the input, third-party rights, applicable law and any relevant third-party licence. You are responsible for making that determination.

11. Third-Party Resources and Links

The Site may load or link to third-party websites, libraries, CDNs, workers, language files, fonts or other resources. Their availability, security, accuracy and privacy practices are outside ToolCookie’s control. A link or technical dependency does not necessarily imply endorsement. Review relevant third-party terms and privacy information where appropriate.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains website requests, tool-input processing, browser storage, contact email and applicable third-party resources. Privacy rights and obligations depend on the facts, the user’s location and the law that applies. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. No Warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Site and tools are provided “as is” and “as available.” ToolCookie does not warrant uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, universal browser or device compatibility, complete accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, security outcomes, regulatory compliance or preservation of data.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, ToolCookie and its owner, contributors and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss arising from use of, inability to use or reliance on the Site or its outputs. This includes loss of data, files, passwords, access, revenue, opportunity or business continuity.

Some jurisdictions do not allow particular exclusions or limitations. In those locations, these provisions apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law and do not exclude liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

15. Availability, Changes and Suspension

ToolCookie may correct, update, replace, restrict, suspend or discontinue a page, feature or tool without guaranteeing advance notice. External dependencies and browser changes may also affect availability. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the Site, comply with law or address misuse.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms when the Site, tools, practices or legal requirements change. The updated date will appear near the top of this page. Your continued use after revised Terms are published constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by applicable law.

17. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms and disputes relating to the Site are governed by the laws and mandatory protections that apply in the circumstances. Any dispute must be brought before a court or other forum having lawful jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms removes consumer, privacy or other rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

18. Contact

Questions about these Terms may be sent through our Contact page or by email to hello@toolcookie.com. The Contact form opens the user’s email application; the user must review and send the message there.
