How private is this scanner? +

Submitted links are parsed locally and are not sent to a ToolCookie server or destination lookup service. The page loads Google Fonts and jsQR 1.4.0 from external CDNs, so those providers receive normal connection data such as your IP address and browser details. Saved reports remain only in page memory until the tab is closed or refreshed.

Can it scan entire emails or chats? +

You can paste text containing visible URLs. When rich text is pasted, the checker also attempts to read hyperlink targets supplied by the browser clipboard. It cannot reveal links that are not present in the pasted clipboard data.

Do you check QR codes safely? +

Yes. After the external jsQR library has loaded, QR image and camera frames are decoded in your browser. Images are not uploaded by this code, and decoded links are not opened. Camera access requires your permission and a compatible browser.

Does it replace antivirus or network filters? +

No. It performs string-based structural checks only. It does not check DNS, domain registration age, TLS certificates, redirect chains, page content, malware or live reputation. Use trusted security tools and verify unfamiliar destinations independently.
